Our community and corporate social responsibility efforts centre on our Live Great philosophy, where we champion healthy living and wellness. Our employees and distribution partners regularly volunteer their time, experience and expertise to organise activities and raise funds for the underprivileged.

Donation in Aid of Flood Survivors in Myanmar

In response to the call for assistance by Myanmar’s Insurance Business Regulatory Board for funds to help one million lives affected by severe floods in 12 of the country’s 14 states, Great Eastern donated US$10,000 in support.

In a ceremony in Yangon in September 2015, Dr Maung Maung Thein, the Deputy Minister of Finance, presented a certificate of appreciation to donors, including Great Eastern.

Great Eastern Myanmar Representative Office Opens in Yangon

Great Eastern’s Myanmar Representative Office officially opened in Yangon on 8 March 2014.

The Guest-of-Honour was His Excellency Dr Maung Maung Thein, Chairman of Insurance Business Supervisory Board and Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance, Union of Myanmar.

The red-letter day started with a visit to our office at Union Business Centre. HE Dr Maung Maung Thein and senior officials from Myanma Insurance – U Aye Min Thein, Managing Director and U Sein Min, General Manager – were received at the premises by Great Eastern top management which included Mr Andrew Lee, Chief Representative for our Myanmar Rep Office.

To commemorate the official opening, a lunch was hosted at a major hotel attended by over 120 guests, including Singapore’s Ambassador to Myanmar, HE Mr Robert Chua.

To commemorate the occasion, Great Eastern donated an optical machine and intraocular lenses to Jivitadan Hospital for the needy.
