Revoke a nomination or remove a beneficiary
Depending on the type of existing nomination you have, you can remove it or make a new nomination at any time.
Here are your options for revoking a nomination:
1. Revocation of revocable nomination
- Revokes the entire revocable nomination
- This can only be initiated by the policyholder
- No written consent from the nominees is needed
2. Notice of revocation of revocable nomination
- This gives notice to the insurer to revoke the revocable nomination previously made
- The reason to provide this notice is if the policyholder has assigned the policy or has drawn up a specific will at a more recent time
3. Revocation of trust nomination
- Revokes the entire trust nomination
- This can only be initiated by the policyholder
- Any one trustee (who is not the policyholder) must give written consent
- If the policyholder is the sole trustee, each nominee must give written consent
- If a nominee is below 18 years old, the parent or legal guardian (who is not the policyholder) can give consent on their behalf
4. Removal of beneficiary
To be used when you wish to remove the beneficiary under old Nomination of Beneficiary framework which does not include spouse and/or children
5. Removal of beneficiary under implicit trust
To be used when you wish to remove the beneficiary under old Nomination of Beneficiary framework which includes spouse and/or children
