Building a better tomorrow for the underprivileged is Great.

Building a better tomorrow for the underprivileged is Great.

Desa Amal Jireh, a charity home for underprivileged children, was founded 39 years ago by Terrence Sinnadurai and his wife, Kamala. With RM800 and a rent-free house from a church, they began their mission to offer hope, education, and shelter to children from broken homes. In 1983, they adopted a boy, followed by their daughter in 1984, which deepened their commitment to providing a loving home for others. Despite challenges in securing funding, Desa Amal Jireh opened in 1985 with just two children.

Thanks to public support, government grants, and the church, they have since cared for over 1,000 children. Today, Desa Amal Jireh owns a RM6.5 million property in Semenyih, a significant leap from its beginnings.

They provide residents with three to four meals daily, cover staff salaries, and maintain essential facilities. The mission now includes elder care, and they’re in the midst of building a sports centre.

Terrence and Kamala are proud of the lives they’ve touched, including former residents who’ve gone to university or represented Malaysia in football.
