Opt out of DPS

You are automatically enrolled into the Dependants' Protection Scheme (DPS) if you are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident between 21 and 65 years old when you make your first CPF working contribution. 

With DPS, you can get affordable financial protection, with the additional benefit of using your CPF funds to pay for premiums. Benefits include:

  • Term-life insurance coverage of up to SGD70,000
  • Protection of your loved ones in the event of total and permanent disability, terminal illness, or death

You can rejoin the DPS within 30 days of the date of the termination letter by filing in the Opt-Back Form on the overleaf of the termination letter.

No underwriting is required if you opt back into the DPS within 30 days. If you want to rejoin after 30 days, your application is subject to underwriting.

For premium payments made by cash, cheque, or GIRO, the refund of premiums will be via PayNow linked to your NRIC. Ensure that you have signed up for PayNow to receive your refunds from us.

Where there is no PayNow account or the PayNow transaction is unsuccessful, a cheque will be issued to you instead. Cheque payment will require an additional 7 to 14 working days for cheque preparation and dispatch.

For premium payments made using CPF funds, the premium will be credited back into your CPF savings.

If your application is successful, we will send you an acknowledgment letter informing you of the details of your DPS termination, including the refund amount, if any.

If your application is unsuccessful, we will send you a letter stating the reasons for rejection by post.
