The fastest track to a heart attack
Fast food makes a hearty meal, but they are bad for the heart. Frequent intake of fast food has been linked to increased risk of coronary heart disease1.
The risks are 20% higher when you have it once a week and 50% higher when you have it twice a week (or more frequently).

What makes fast food so unhealthy?

  1. High Glycaemic Index (GI) foods: White rice, white bread, cakes or biscuits
    • Consuming 98% of high GI ingredients daily increases the risk of heart disease by up to 66%2
  1. Processed meat: Bacon, sausages
    • Eating 50g of processed meat daily increases the risk of heart disease by up to 44%2

Smart choices for a healthy heart

  1. Eat in moderation: Go for a balanced meal with a healthy nutritional profile
  2. Reduce your salt intake: Cutting down to 2.3g of salt (about a teaspoonful) daily can lower your risk of heart attack and stroke by up to 30%
