Kim Foong serves as President of the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA). Her journey to this role is both remarkable and deeply personal, beginning with an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis during the pandemic. Shortly into her chemotherapy sessions, Kim's brother passed away, adding to her emotional burden and complicating her responsibilities as the sole caregiver for her elderly mother and young nephew.
During this tumultuous time, Kim joined Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), where she found comfort in connecting with a fellow survivor who reassured her she was not alone. After seven months of rigorous treatment, she was declared cancer-free.
With insurance support and a growing sense of optimism, Kim accepted the presidency at BCWA, allowing her to make a meaningful impact on others facing similar challenges.
Under her leadership, BCWA expanded educational outreach and launched mobile clinics to raise awareness about early breast cancer detection.
Eventually, Kim shifted her focus from corporate life to NGO work. Each challenge has contributed to her personal growth, inspiring hope in those navigating their own dark times.
