2. Senoko Fishery Port

Best for: Night owls

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 2am to 6am, this bustling, old school market is not for the faint of heart. But you won't find a fresher selection of seafood on the island, with half of the produce locally caught. Exotic fare such as sea cucumbers feature heavily, so pick some up! Sea cucumbers have been linked to anti-cancer, anti-hypertension and antioxidant properties.

4. Opika Organic Market & Restaurant

Best for: Expert tips

The depth and breadth of their organic products is incredible, especially the fruit and vegetables. Most are sourced from nearby farmers who are friends of the company – you can even arrange to visit their farms. Their site is also brimming with healthy recipes and natural remedy suggestions (like how coconut oil is a great immunity booster for babies, and can be added to infant formula).

6. EatCleanKL

Best for: home delivery

Where: Delivery-based outfit in Damansara Heights, 50490 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia There's nothing more comforting than having food delivered to you – the only problem is, it's usually junk food. Not anymore! EatCleanKL is the brainchild of Khairena, an entrepreneur who uses "only fresh produce, organic products, olive oil, minimal salt, no sugar, no icky oils or MSG". And her dishes are divine. Her service is perfect if you're stuck for healthy ideas for an upcoming party. Khairena regularly updates her Facebook page with menu shots, inspirational stories and health food facts ("the more colours in your vegetables, the more variety of nutrients.")
